Just Dance Kids 2014 Review

We are huge fans of the Just Dance franchise in my house. I played it for recreation and a part of my weight loss plan. My kids think it's so much fun and it really gets them moving and shaking. They were so excited when I told them we got to try out the new Just Dance Kids 2014 for Wii U. This is our first Just Dance game for Wii U so I was really excited to see how they would incorporate the game pad into the game play. I'll get to that in a minute, but first let me tell you a little bit about the game in general.

Just Dance Kids has a lot of great kid specific songs like "Hickory Dickory Dock", "Skip to my Lou", "The Freeze Game" from Yo Gabba Gabba! and "Get Ready to Wiggle" by The Wiggles. There are also current pop songs from Demi Lovato, Selena Gomez, and One Direction. My favorite songs though are some of the older songs like "Shout", "Footloose", and "The Hustle." It's really fun to see my kids doing the hustle.
Another feature of the Just Dance Kids games are that the dancers on screen are actual kids. It's nice to see actual kids in costumes instead of an animated dancer. My daughter just turned six and she has a hard time following the regular Just Dance games. Just Dance Kids is much better suited for her ability level. There are different dance modes they can play in, regular Just Dance, Freeze and Shake, and Team High score. My kids can get very competitive with each other, so I'm a big fan of Team High Score. It combines their scores and they are trying to get the top score as a team.
I mentioned before that the Wii U version of Just Dance Kids 2014 has an awesome special feature called Dance Director. While players are dancing with the Wii remotes, an additional person can pickup the game pad and play Dance Director. That means that they can pick from silly dance moves and the dancers are instructed on the TV to dance in a certain style like cheerleader, zombie, monkey, conductor, etc. While the players are dancing, the Dance Director can award style points by clicking on the players icon. Here's a photo collage so you can see better.
I love the style points! It gives a boost to my daughter when she is having a hard time keeping up with her brother. My kids love the silly dance styles and ask that someone be the dance director for them all the time.
Parents can dance too, it doesn't have to be limited to your kids. This would be a great family gift or for any family that enjoys gaming.
